WHO WE ARE
The Riders Behind CraftedMoto Expeditions
It started with a broken clutch cable at 14,000 ft (4,267 m) on the Manali-Leh highway in 2014, fixed with a piece of wire and the help of a truck driver who had no particular obligation to stop. That ride was solo, under-planned, and ended with the conviction that India rewards and punishes underprepared enthusiasm in equal measure. After that came years of accumulation: Spiti crossings in June when water levels were high, Rajasthan's desert interior with Bishnoi family stops, the Konkan coast before infrastructure arrived, and Nagaland's Mon district where road access is still operationally complex. After 50,000 km and a decade of riding, riders began asking for route advice. That became CraftedMoto Expeditions in 2020. We run private expeditions for international riders who want India done seriously - not the checklist version, the version that takes planning and rewards it.
The Rides That Built This Company
Every route we offer exists because we rode it first. Not to plan a tour, but to see where the broken tarmac leads. The expeditions came later. The obsession with Indian highways came first.
2014 — First Solo Crossing
First solo crossing of Ladakh. Took the wrong road past the Shyok river and ended up somewhere good.
2016 — Crafting the Promise
CraftedMoto launched with one rule: maximum four riders, everything else built around them. No fixed departures. No shared groups. No itinerary that does not change if the road says it should.
2017 — Designing Better Trips
Too many riders coming back from India saying the trip was good but not what they actually wanted. We started designing what that would look like.
2018 — Routes That Make Sense
Spiti, Rajasthan's desert interior, the Konkan coast, Uttarakhand's back roads, the Northeast. After 50,000 km the map started making sense in a different way.
2019 — Mapping the Spiti Circuit
Documenting the 'World's Most Treacherous Road' through the middle land. Dealing with landslides, loose gravel, and the true essence of Indian dual-sporting.
India, Mapped by Handlebar
Over 50,000 kilometers documented across the subcontinent.
India mapped by handlebars
We haven't just read about these places—we've slept in the roadside dhabas, repaired flat tires at 15,000 feet, and drank chai with the locals in valleys that don't appear on standard GPS.
The People on the Ground
An expedition is only as strong as the people supporting it. Our lead mechanics have worked directly with Royal Enfield networks and hold over a decade of high-altitude repair experience. They can rebuild a Himalayan carburetor blindfolded at 14,000 feet. Our local route guides are natives of the regions we ride—fluent in the terrain, the micro-climates, and the dialects. Every support team member is certified in wilderness first aid and carries satellite communication for absolute peace of mind. You will meet them when you ride with us.
The Riders Who've Ridden With Us
Independent riders from 15+ countries. 40% come back for a second expedition. That number tells us more than any review.
Our Riders and Guides
Every expedition is led by a guide who has personally ridden the route - including failed sections and alternates that replaced them. Our lead guides carry at least 5 years of Himalayan riding experience and complete WFA (Wilderness First Aid) certification. Our mechanics are Royal Enfield-trained and know the specific failure modes of the Himalayan 450 at altitude.
We do not use contracted agency guides. Every person on a CraftedMoto expedition works directly with us.
As Riders, Here's What We Refuse to Do
We built this company because we were tired of how motorcycle tourism was being run.
We refuse to ruin the serenity of a mountain pass by running it with 20 motorcycles in a single file.
We don't force you into dates that suit our schedule. You tell us when you want to ride, and we make it happen.
If a route is crowded with tour buses, we reroute. We prioritize authentic roads over famous photo-ops.
A pass at sunrise is worth two hours on the schedule. We build buffer into every route so the ride can breathe.
Ride with People Who Know These Roads
Tell us when you want to ride and what moves you. We will take it from there.
